Welcome to České Budějovice!

SAME19 will take place in České Budějovice, the largest city in South Bohemia, a historic region in the south of the Czech Republic.

The city is centred around Přemysl Otakar II Square, one of the largest historic squares in Central Europe, surrounded by colourful historic buildings, cafés and restaurants. The city is also situated at the confluence of the Vltava and Malše rivers, providing plenty of opportunities to enjoy the riverside and surrounding green spaces. The city is famous for its world-known companies such as the brewery Budweiser Budvar and the manufacturer of writing and art supplies Koh-i-noor Hardtmuth.

Founded in 1265, České Budějovice combines the atmosphere of a historic Czech city with a lively student and cultural scene. The compact city centre is easy to explore on foot, with many of the main sights, restaurants and cafés within walking distance of the conference venue.

České Budějovice will be the European Capital of Culture in 2028.

The city is also an excellent base for discovering South Bohemia, with historic towns, castles, forests and fish ponds nearby. For those arriving early or staying after the symposium, the region offers many opportunities for short trips and outdoor activities.
